An Buddha Temple was established by Buddhists in My Tho City in the 1950s. At first, the temple was used as a place to worship Buddha. Seeing that the temple was crowded with Buddhist monks and nuns coming to worship, the Tien Giang Buddhist Church renovated the temple into a place of training Buddhist monks and nuns for the big temples in Tien Giang and the southwestern provinces.
The pagoda only trained Buddhists for a few years, then stopped teaching for some objective reasons in 1975. Until 1995, the temple was accepted and renovated by Buddhist monk Thich Buddha Tu, a Buddhist Intermediate-school. He specializes in training renowned monks and nuns in Tien Giang and the West.
